Government Backs Campaign To Support Engineers Facing Redundancy

T2T Campaign Supports Engineers Facing Redunancy

Millions of unfortunate people across the UK have lost their jobs to this pandemic, with the Office For National Statistics reporting a drop of more than 600,000 workers on UK payrolls.

With every sector taking a hit, all industries are urgently seeking support, including the engineering, and manufacturing sectors.

Luckily, there are schemes and packages out there.

The government are now backing a programme launched to help engineers facing redundancy.

The scheme, ‘Transition to Teach’, helps engineering businesses faced to make redundancies by offering support to their staff in finding a new career in teaching.

It aims to provide firms with the advice and resources needed to guide staff who may be at risk, transitioning them into a role where their skills and experience could be utilised to benefit a new generation.

Once companies have registered an interest in the programme, T2T will provide the relevant resources such as marketing materials and personalised support for employees throughout the process.

Although The Department For Education hopes this will compensate for some of the industry job loss, they also see the standalone benefits that it will have within the education sector.

A programme which will not only help through sharing their expertise in the classroom but by providing a step to support our employment market as it starts to make a steady recovery again.

If you are interested in the programme, you can visit their website directly and fill out a form.

There are five simple steps to the process –

1. Fill out an enquiry form to express your interest and wait to receive confirmation in 5 working days of your eligibility.

2. If you are eligible, they assist you as you apply for the T2T program and support your application for a teacher training course.

3. You will then be given a guidance and development advisor who will offer personalised support and guidance as you do your Initial Teacher Training (ITT).

4. Having been successful as a qualified teacher, they will continue to support you in your Newly Qualified Teacher year (NQT)
